Brazil has an ambitious plan to attract more foreign visitors over the next decade and tourism numbers are up with more demand expected from the FIFA World Cup next year and the Olympics in 2016. Now airlines are reacting to the demand with a number of new air routes to Brazil announced by companies from around the world. Other routes to South American countries are also increasing.
Etihad Airways, the national carrier of the United Arab Emirates, now has three non-stop flights a week from Abu Dhabi to Sao Paulo, its first destination in South America. The new Brazil service marks Etihad Airways’ entry into its sixth continent and an important move in increasing its presence across high growth nations, according to James Hogan, president and chief executive officer.
