Default Bedbugs

Be aware, bedbugs were almost extinct due to DDT, and we got lucky for a few decades, but they're making a big comeback: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WfKCcSPCOQo . I'm in hotel rooms 365 nights a year, and I bring my flashlight and carefully inspect each new room, regardless of how swanky the hotel is. I highly recommend you do a Google search to know what to look for, and check out your hotel room upon arrival. Even if you don't find bedbugs, you won't like what you'll see as far as how thoroughly most hotels vacuum their carpets.
Speaking of other things you might find, in my current hotel I didn't find any bedbugs, thank God, but I did find a dildo under the mattress . Looks like housekeeping missed something, and someone out there is missing her best friend!

Oh yeah! Just another joy of the second world. Many times in some hotels I will notice slight picks at my legs and bum. I am usually so tired that I just go to sleep. The next morning it looks like I slept in a poison ivy patch. I normally sleep naked, but not in hotels anymore.

IF we could see the world of hell that we live in, we would never leave the house. And even then! Our bodies are built to withstand much if not most of the horror, but if you could see an ultralight of the bed you are sleeping in, you would RUN from the hotel. Usually I just ride it out, but there was one place, in Miami in fact, that was so hideous I slept on the floor. (which wasn't much better especially after I found all the used rubbers under the bed.) And that was $80!
I can sleep almost anywhere, but boozy, stained pillows and bed cover and used condoms turns out to be my limit.

"I can sleep almost anywhere, but boozy, stained pillows and bed cover and used condoms turns out to be my limit." Sail

But you left all that sh*t there the last time.

Last year I took a moto trip up here with a friend. The last day out we hit a monsoon in the middle of nowhere. The only place we could dry out was a "motel" on Dale Hollow Lake in TN. The next AM my left leg was covered in welts that looked like chigger bites X10. Took over a month for those things to go away. Lazy little buggers didn't even bother or need to go for my right or middle leg.

Don't get me started on bedspreads. I can only imagine what went on on that thing since it was last washed.

Betcha dollars to donuts those were bedbugs. Good thing they didn't hitch a ride home with you in your clothes or suitcase. And you don't have to go to a skanky hotel to find them. They've been showing up in five-star resorts as well.

I read an article about how prevelent they were in high priced NYC hotels. And this from Charlie640 2 years ago yesterday:

"Hotel Dann Carlton.... which I think is the one closest to Ave 15 Calle 100 is terrific. THeir are 2 Danns on Ave 15, th eone I stayed at is closest to Calle 100. Very very nice rooms with flat screen LCD TV with a Sony Home Theather.... very memorable EXCEPT equally as memorable were the BED BUGS !!! I was not sure what was going on until the last day. I am pretty sure thats what the nasty red marks were all over my ankles and wrist!!
THey took a 2 weeks to fade. Very odd as the hotel looked VERY new and was remodeled recently. I doubt every room has issues... but check your bed and change rooms at the slightest bite."

Hmmm, I wonder if Charlie was the one who brought them to NYC as unintended carry-ons

This is what I mean. Nice hotel, looks new and clean. Again, google "bedbugs" in order to know what to look for and where. Bring a flashlight and look carefully as soon as you check in.
