Default Bogota Apartments

Barrio Santa Barbara @ Calle 116 & carrera 22, right on a great street loaded with restarauants, dry cleaner under my building, internet cafe under my building! Food, liqour stores, everything, also $3-4 cab ride to LAI or to parke 93 and Zona T. Calle 116 is happening in its own right! Lots OF restaraunts and bars!

I found this place on craigslist and stayed there! I highly recommend it for value @$50 U.S. per night as well as being a nice apartment (3.5 out of 5). Master bdr has separate bath. Most apartments are 2 bedroom and they just lock the door of the second bdr, when not in use. $70 for 2 bdrs! Guests are free, no questions asked! Nice neighborhood! Daily maid service ( kind cute too) watchout GA, no te invito por eso!

Wireless internet, in room I wished I brought my laptop! Porteria 24 / 7, they have an aiport pickup for $10 same as the 20 mil taxi ride I took

I asked them to fill my fridge and they put everything I asked for in without a problem! Added it onto my bill and at colombian rate (not Hotel rate)

There is a lady named Nancy, speaks perfect english! THey have 10 apartments , they rent to foreigners and business men! They are quite often full call as far in advance as possible!

I recommend this one! I would use it again, due to proximity of everything in the north! Nice apartment and there are babes everywhere below!

Downside, I was on the 4th floor and still heard a little street noise, not much but a little! Maid came in once when I was not prepared (of course @ 11:00 a.m. normal time) hahahahaha! She got an eyeful!

OH **** I MISPELLED APARTMENTS ( how do you edit the thread name????)

FYI, let me know when you do! Word is out on this one! But for me I could have justg hunjg around calle 116 and enjoyed the 4 o 5 block raidus for food, dancing and drinks. Cool Bailanado club (not sure how to spell bailanado) called the Mexicana, serious dancers only!

But they still let me in! hjahjajajajaj

Ditto what LL said with one caveat. Make sure what Nancy expects in payment. All correspondence was disgussed in UDS's, but when I got there pesos were required. My ATM card didn't work well in the 2 banks nearby.

No problem if you plan on it. I didn't so it cost me some valuable time. Plan on having about +- $1,000,000 COP's handy if you plan on staying 10 days with airport pickup. Payment is expected the next day.

Bottom line? I highly recommend this place if getting the required pesos the next day isn't a problem, the key word is if...

Just one to note one thing about paying her, Tonk. I paid her the day after I arrived with Pesos, and did not have enough , 2 days later I paid her the rest! I asked her for a day or 2 to get the rest and she was cool with it I think Nancy and the place is a great spot.

I would say make sure you are clear with her and she has let you know what to expect, maybe bring a copy of the email that says How she expects to be paid!

Default Re: Bogota Apartments

Greetings all!
I'm currently sitting in one of SouthernRoller's apartments in Bogota as I'm writing this.

I've been here since Wednesday evening and so far it's been a great experience and everything I'd hoped it would have been. I'll post a travel report soon (Karina is in the shower so I only have a few minutes to post here, then it's off to the Gold Museum).

The apartment SouthernRoller rented to me is everything advertised and more. I'm in a really modern building in Javerinia Barrio (I would say it's strata 5 area), located in North Bogota on Carrera 6 and 45th.

The apartment is fully stocked and as a matter of fact - Matt (SouthernRoller) was kind enough to stock the place with beer and bottled water for me so I would not have to find a place late at night when I first arived - Club Colombian beer is really good!

The building is totally secure with an armed guard in the lobby on duty 24/7, and taxis constantly arrive right in front of the building, so no waiting to go anywhere.

My apartment has everything I could ask for (coffee maker, iron, satellite tv, great shower with all the hot water you could ask for and is tastefully furnished). Also - really important items is that there is an elevator which apparently not all buildings here have (trust me, being on the 6th floor - you WANT an elevator).

All in all, I really like this apartment and I'm already making plans to return here for another visit in June - I'll definitely rent from Matt again.

More to follow guys, Karina just got out of the shower and even though I'm not particularly thinking about food right now we're headed to crepes and waffles.

Chao!

Al

P.S. If you guys want me to I'll take some photos of the apartment and post them. Let me know
