Ahh, B/Manga, that city brings back some nice memories!

If you are looking for a nice hotel try the Casa de Campo (I think that is the place I'm thinking of) in the northern part of town. Although I did not stay there I did visit their facilities and wished I would have stayed there. It has everything that you would want. I think you find in the archives me mentioning this place. The prices seemed very reasonable and if you bring a lady friend there she'll be impressed.

The best web site I've come across on Bucaramanga is

http://www.bucaramangacity.com/

I met the owner who is a wonderful guy that just loves his city and has gone to quite some expense doing such a great web site. Look under the link "clubes" not just "hoteles" for lodging.

If you haven't been to B/Manga yet I think you'll be pleasantly surprised. Just watch out for one of their strange customs, eating these nasty looking fat-assed (ElCap'n made me say that) ants! Yuck!

Thanks brother Tinto! If I go there I'll check it out.

I guess our other members who have visited this city slept under bridges

Off to the archives...

OK, I'm here, checking this board out per Tonk's recommendation.

There isn't much here besides the Dann (@ about $250-$300 per night now) ... but don't worry, hermanos. Mustang won't leave the team hanging.

One of my faults ... besides the marked preference for using airport codes (you'll thank me someday when you go online to book!) ... is I'm not very good about trip reports.

But I hereby 'promise' to make a pit stop or two in BGA and post a few hotel choices with rates & contact info. Pics if I can get them.

Mustang,

I would highly recommend Club Campestre (Casa de Campo). Here is their link:

Mustang just back from paradise.

As promised on the BGA board, here are a couple recommendations for hotels, both in same area of town. Definitely not resorts, but comfortable, good location, attentive staff, relatively inexpensive. Price quotes for doubles:

HOUSTON HOTEL
Calle 33 #30-34
T: 634-3977, 632-5360
CP $72K (A/C); CP $48K (fan)

RIVIERA PLAZA HOTEL
Calle 33 #32-92
T: 645-4582, 635-8044
CP $95 (A/C); CP $70K (fan)

LL,

Since you stayed there you'll know that that they have many more amenities that a golf course. I was surprised at how many they actually had, even a futbol field! Tennis, handball, two swimming pools as well as a nice restaurant come to memory.

I do have other lodging information from the man who owns www.bucaramangacity.com although it is a little dated. He sent me the following email regarding his apartment that he rents. His name is Eduardo and is a truly great guy. Even though I had already rented a place he was super helpful and invited me to tour Chicamocha canyon, an artist that I'm embarrassed to say that I forgot his name, and a private tour to a nice coffee finca, Mesa de los Santos, all on his dime.

From: Eduardo (edlievano@intercable.net.co)
To: Tinto
Subject: Apartamento Parque Central Cañaveral

Now I have a apartment for rent weekly or monthly, fully furnished, 3 bedrooms, living room, kitchen, tv, computer with broadband, pool, jacuzzi, balcony, daly rent is US$70 with a minimum stay of 5 days. Neighborhood: 3 minutes walk to Centros Comerciales La Florida and Cañaveral, 1/2 mile to Foscal Clinica Ardila Lulle, 3 minutes walk to Club Campestre,8 minutes walk to Colegio Panamericano, 10 minutes by car to Ruitoque Golf Country Club and ten minutes by car to downtown Bucaramanga Downtown.

If anyone is interested check with him on availability, terms and pricing as the above information may have changed.
