Question

Hey guys. I'll be in Cali from July 21-24 and need a decent hotel at a reasonable price. The Hotel Intercontinental is asking $100 through their web site. I tried to e-mail several hotels listed in "The Two Gringos" guide (including Hotel Granada Real, Hotel Windsor Plaza, Hotel Plaza Versalles, and Hotel Valle Real), but all of those e-mails got returned for bad addresses. I guess Cali hotels do not understand the importance of keeping the same e-mail and web addresses. Any help would be appreciated. I'm book in Barranquilla, Cartagena, and Medellin already...just need to finish with Cali.

Griz

Griz, I like the Inter and if you can get a room under $100, that's not bad - I'd take it! The Sheraton off avenida sexta is a newer hotel, but don't forget about Robert Vignola's corporate condo...

Duggers & Green

Cra. 27 Oeste No. 3-45 B/San Fernando

Talke to Fabio, he speaks English and this small economical Hotel is Locally owned by Eddie Dugger - Central Florida boy.

Hotel Del Puente (right behind Hotel Inter) Cheap and loud if that's your style.
Calle 5 No. 4-36

Another new Hotel, nice and inexpensive right off avenida sexta is the Vizcaya Real Hotel*

Used to stay at travelers when the Intercontinental would start charging me 60,000 pesos for taking a girl into my room.

I thought the 60,000 peso security feel as they like to call it was per room. Nope! I tried to take three girls to my room one night and the wanted to charge me 180,000 pesos.

Travelers doesn't care how many chicks you take to your room and it's about half the price of the Inter.

If you want to hang out with other americans you can always rent a room at Petey's Penthouse. He is one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet and he only charges $40 - 45 a night for a room in his 5 star Penthouse. Give him a call at 011-572-660-1095.

Back in the late 90's you could get a room at the Hotel Inter for $92K Pesos! Women were free (in the room). The Inter changed ownership a few years ago and they renovated the Hotel which it needed badly. The Hotel Intercontinental is a historic landmark and if I'm not mistaken this hotel was built in the 1950's. You guys wouldn't believe the stories I've heard!

The Hotel Inter was the first place I stayed on my first trip to Cali in 1999, forever in the memory banks.

THanks, guys. I'll check into all of these. I also heard about Hotel Pension Stein. They told me $50 plus tax per night and the place looks nice from what I can see on the web. Anyone have experience with this place?

Thanks,
Griz

Hey,, I too will be in cali June 30 thru July 4, need a good nice hotel near some happneing places, easy food and bars and such.. Really would like a hotel that makes getting around easy has air cond. and nice accomadations.. My amiga said I could stay with her, but i aint there yet.. i wouldn't want to get stuck in a jam... I have seen the couple of hotels listed here, but not sure which one are in a fun and SAFE area....

I am going to get my feet wet before my 3- 4 week stay in bogota en august or september.. I am meeting a latina I have been speaking with for some time now.. i was debating going there for the full stay in september, but I am not sure if this is worth spending a whole month on a girl. I havent met yet.

I got a little extra money right now and I am dying to step ground in the land of milk & honey..
