And when you ask a woman out and she says no, obviously she must be a lesbian.

Jim,
When playing sports if someone told me I was lucky, they were suggesting that my performance was not based on skill. To say she is lucky implies that she has something she doesn't deserve. Do they know you well enough that they mean she is lucky because you are an amazing guy or is she lucky because she won the Filipina lottery?
DAMN CIZA, your posts are something to look forward toooo..

Ciza,

I taught 13 and 14 year-old girls [and boys] for thirteen years. Despite the fact that they were going through or had gone through puberty and some were very pretty, it is very easy to see them for what they are...children. My GF is 19, not 14.

When anyone discusses my relationship and talks about 12 year-olds or uses the word pedophilia, you are trivializing a horrific crime which has nothing to do with Mitch or me.

As a umpire here's my take on luck. One day you may hit four line drives right at someone and be 0 for 4. The biggest hit of Luis Gonzales life was an "excuse me" bloop single into center field to win the 2001 World Series. Luck only matters in Baseball in the short run. The player with skill hits a lot more line drives in his career and they don't normally go right at someone. And most bloopers are easy outs.

Do they know you well enough that they mean she is lucky because you are an amazing guy or is she lucky because she won the Filipina lottery?

They tell her she's lucky so right or wrong this is the paradigm. I tell her all the time that I am lucky. She doesn't care about other men, she doesn't waste my money, she listens to me, she treats me very well.

I would like to think that the adjective they use before guy is amazing but in honesty it is foreign. They definitely don't know me well enoguh to know any of my strengths or weaknesses. Their use of the word lucky is more like winning the Filipino lottery. To them I am a lottery ticket.

My point is that this detail is lost in the translation. Mitch is probably lucky, although her friends can't possibly know that. Hearing that people think you are lucky all the time, is good for your self-esteem whether the compliment is justified or not.

That is one of the great unfairnessess of life as a man. Women (girls) can (and DO) dress like Vegas hookers and that is fine. But let some poor slob actually look and HE is the filthy pervert! And if HE should dress up and try to look good, what does his wife say? Who are YOU kidding! Get back in that kitchen. Oh, and my nails need to be done...
