I knew that Jim had survived the typhoons, but his abcense from GT caused me some curiosity, and acting upon your concern of 11-07-09, I sent a PM to Jim, and he advised me that he and some other members of GT, have been banned from GT, this Strikes my curiosity???????????????

It does mine too a bit, I do not know the reasons, perhaps it is being a monger as he put off himself off to be over time, or was it just he had been to Colombia, done that and moved on and was promoting the Phills that is not quite good with what this site is about....

I don't ****in know what happened, but those in the know do....So I will not question their decision, they a hell of a lot smarter than I am, I have only been here a short time.....

And it was more that just one or two, it was the decision of many.....

So Adios Jim, Have your Hash's and the girls and if you ever want to contact me do it at....

I normally buy a lonely planet guide book for my destinations, but I received most of my information and research about the Phils from the internet and did not buy one.
While in the Ermita barrio of Manila I got into a flap with a Kalesa driver when he doubled the agreed upon price of the ride.
After my return to the states, I bought the guide book as I plan to visit again, and was not surprised when I read page 79 as follows: “Several of the kalesa (two wheel horse drawn cart) drivers around Ermita and Intramuros can be dishonest-prices can change suddenly. Agree on a price before setting off.”
Well even with an agreed price, it’s still subject to change.

Good to hear of your report. Lonely Planet guides are good for advising about the potential rip offs, had I read mine a little closer, maybe I would not have gotten robbed in peru many years ago. It warned against exactly what happened to me.

Was in the PI back in the late 80's. What ever happened to Magsaysay street...the road right outside the base in subic. It use to have continuous restuarantes and night clubs with live bands every night. Did any of that survive or is it completely dead ?

I will be in Cali next week. Maybe we can meet up this time around ?

I am not in Granada, I moved into my Apt. in the South.

In Peru did you get the phlegm wad on the shirt, robbery tactic?

Not sure about the street , I did visit Olongapo and a portion of the old base, but it really reminded me of the El Centro sector of Cali, did not see clubs there. The clubs that I visited, and the hotels where in a place called Barrio Barretto, maybe 5 km from the base. It rained most of the time that I was there so I did not do much tourism while in Olongapo.

Yes I will be in Cali next week and love to meet up with you I have your number in my phone. I’ll pm u.

If you get any sort of substance spilled on your clothing in public (mustard, phlegm, bird droppings, etc.), immediately watch your surroundings and refuse any help from strangers trying to point it out and/or help you clean it off. Someone else will be cleaning out your pockets while you are distracted. Get out of the area quickly and clean it off yourself.

I had a blind guy 'drop' his keys on the street in front of me. Being the trusting Gringo I bent over to pick them up. End of story. And money.

This is the LAST post on the subject, so please read it carefully.

When we ban someone, it is not done lightly. There is much discussion between the three of us BEFORE a ban is issued on someone, especially a long time member. We do not share those reasons publicly. I can assure you, it was nothing personal.

As far as Jim saying that members (plural) were banned, yes, that is true. In total, two people were banned. Again, there were reasons behind it and they are not public. If you missed the posts that caused this... Im glad. No one needed to see them. They were complete BS and craziness.

Now... lets move forward. There is no reason for the topic to come up again.

This post is not about the pros and cons of banning a specific person.

I will miss Jim s posts. I completely disagreed with his method of finding a woman and his criteria, but I completely respected his right to voice his opinion and share his life.

I might add that he almost always did it by using the English language in a gentlemanly manner.

I recently heard from him, he is still happy and very content with his young lady.

If anyone would like his private email, please send me a PM and I will send it to you.

Have a good day all.

Dennis
