Thanks to Gary Bala for posting this elsewhere.

E-mail Order Bride

(My personal comment,) Interestingly, the above link to the NG video shows the Russian bride Anastosiya, who was killed by her American husband, Indle King, that led to the discriminatory IMBRA laws being passed.

What a low-life that Indle was. What Anastosiya saw in him is beyond me.

And sadly the other side of the story is the guys who bring a woman they barely know into their home and wake up one day to find 'cousins' Igor and Vladmir sleeping on the couch, then coming home after work and finding nothing. Empty house. Or not waking up at all. It has happened.
There is no substitute for time spent with any woman that you are considering sharing your life with. Even that is no guarantee, but it is something. Way too many guys fall in love on the first date and even before the honeymoon is over, he realizes not only doesn't he know this woman, he can't even talk with her without a translator! Take the time you need to boys. It's your stuff and your life. If you can't get off of work to make several visits, or have other pressures that you can't change, maybe finding a foreign woman online isn't for you.

increasingly, I believe that one must marry the culture and family as much as the "pretty girl in the photo" in order for these things to be real and not possess an expiration date

Good point riv. And would you want a woman who could forget who she was and the culture she came from? The reason we are here is to find women who CONTINUE to have the values of their culture.

I definitely knew when I looked for a woman in the Philippines that I would have some obligation to her family. Some men avoid this by looking for a middle class girl but it eliminates well over 50% and middle class women are better at deception than poorer women. I'm not saying that honesty correlated with family wealth but a more educated girl could hide her true self better if she wanted to.

When I went to Colombia as a virtual newbie, I wanted to fall in love and I was "successful". I've bought cars that I gave more thought to than I did selecting a wife. For me, I knew there would be family needs and one of the first things I determined my first time with a woman is how much help her family needed. If it was too much, the girl didn't make the first cut.

Mitch's family is great, as I get to know them better but I knew from day 1 that if I stayed with Mitch, I'd need to help her family, Riv and Sailover are right that this is a good thing. If she treats her family well, there is a good chance she will treat me well too.
