It used to drive me crazy but I figures out that they didn't care and eventually I would have grudges against most of the businesses in the Subic-Olongapo area and then I'd have no where to shop.

So I have set extremely low expectations. If a store does an especially good job by haivng a nice selection of goods, emplyees who really care, I go back. At this point, it is pointless to walk out and it's pointless to get upset. I don't even complain to Mitch anymore because I hate negative people and even though I feel justified, I just try and go with the flow.

In my past life I was a serious type A personality. Since I'm completely retired, I am in the process of reinventing myself. I thought about walking out when they closed the second line but they wouldn't have cared and I would have needed to go to another store, and pick out the fifteen items again.

So Mitch put her arm around me and we just stood there surveying the scene. I'm not going to change the Philippines and I can either suffer or adapt. Of course, you travel back to the US frequently enough to understand how stores competing for customers really give better service.

Man-o man, you got it! THAT is exactly what I am trying to do, because no matter HOW pissed I get, I ain't changing a thing down here. This is THEIR culture and I am the one who has to adapt. And last week when I was in the US, all I could think about was getting home! (yep, it hurts to be me).
The rude, anything-but-customer-service is far better than that fat soccer moms who rule the roost.
Jim, this one's (three's) for you.

I could perhaps stand the "Jolly" part (read this BIG Woman)......

It is the attitude that another has be it Man or Woman, that makes the person.....

There are some people in life I cannot stand to be around, and there are a few here....

One male customer I had for just about 2 1/2 days here, US educated, but a local born, whom I refer to as a, Niandrothaul....

browbeats his employees to ****....

When he kicked about my bill, I tore it up in front of him, (which was cheap) and said...Don't call me for help any more....

The freedom to say 'take this job and shove it' is one of the greatest there is.
