I'm not sure who blew who in order to get a Phils section started...but it's absolutely ridiculous IMO. There is only one lonely old man with a kept nursemaid, initiating posts in this section. And maybe only ONE of you will ever go there in the next 5 years, so what's the purpose really? This section is total nonsense. A Mexico section which I have lobbied for, for quite awhile now would be more valuable and beneficial to the board long-term.

I was originally in favor of a Philippines section, until you posted those disturbing photos of those creepy old men.

I plan to travel there myself eventually as a tourist just to see what it is like in terms of culture, beaches, food, and whether I could put up with that accent for the rest of my life. But the content of the posts so far (mongering, a young girl taking her graybeard boyfriend out to get laid by other girls, etc.) has been nothing if not creepy. Make this vote number two for nixing the Philippines section.

How can one extra section be a problem? I am enjoying reading the posts about another place. Cali is fantastic, but who wouldn't want to see more of the world and hear stories from those who have? Turn the page, gentlemen.

I would vote to nix Philippines as a section simply because the focus of the board is Latin. It is fine if someone wants to do a trip report about it but not devote an area for it.

Speaking of trip reports I have three now to do...BAQ, Armenia and Pereira. I donīt like writing on the road and have been gone the last few weeks so have been rather busy.

Tinto...great photo show by the way...and yes, when you have time, I'm definitely interested in hearing about your circumnavigation of Colombia.

I am with you 100% Tinto. Would be nice to hear a trip report from a fellow board member......for the sake of trading notes LA vs. Phil. However this is a Latin board.....

What possible difference can an extra section be? Is there a limit to the sections and a Philippine section is blocking Central Bogota or something? There would seem to be several comparisons to LA with the Philippines for a single man, right? How can more information be bad?

LOLOLOLOLO!!!!!!I don't know if I can put up with that accent either. I called up a girl from Cherry Blossoms and that accent was so thick ...I acted as though I had telephone problems and hung up. The phillipines is just another adventure that someone might take and I don't think its all that bad. Remember we are all learning from each other's experiences so it may encourage or discourage a person from making that trip based on future trip reports.

I just got back from the Philippines.

Its as valid a place to report on as any other.

Say what? Progressing along the Spanish learning curve is not easy. Filipinas speak English. Accent? Who cares?

Filipinas are beautiful, they have a bad ass Latin/Asian mix that is killer. Surnames such as Suarez, Lopez, etc are common.

I'll post a few observations in this barren, despised section of the hallowed Gringos.com.
