Default Santa Rosa de Osos

Santa Rosa de Osos -

Located approx 120 km north of Medellin. This is a beautiful town. Big milk producing area, Colanta (Colombian dairy co.) has a large plant there. The city is the seat of the Catholic diocese for Norte Antioquia. Last year I gave a trip report about going to Andes in southern Antioquia and said that I did not see an attractive person all day. Not so with Santa Rosa, the city was very clean and the people were nice looking, had a great vibe to it. Not in a "it's happening" way, but in a tranquil way. My bro in law, Otto said that it has never had problems, the reason he gave me, because all the Catholics here are "real" Catholics. We had a tour of the Cathedral, old priest's quarters, two other churches, school. Just one of the volunteer men that they knew in town. Otto and Dora's sister Nelly have a small clothing store there and one in Barbosa, where they live. This was not for money, these people are really proud of their city, churches and the fact that they have a Bishop. When we stopped for lunch this man did not even want us to buy him lunch, he left and came back an hour later. The day started with the Metro and bus up to meet Otto and Nelly at the turn off for Barbosa on the Autopista. A 40 year old man and 18 year old girl in a moto accident, both deader than 4 o'clock, motos here are many and the driving is wild, that was a bummer. Driving up the mountain we stopped to watch some National Police (three of them) take a ride with parasailers (hang gliders??, I don't know) That was cool. Otto called one of the parasailers when he was probably two km from us and asked him how much he would charge to give me a ride (he knew the guy, I had no idea) 50,000 COP. Dora says "honey I will pay if you want to go", I asked where will you get the money? and she said, "from you". I told her that I love that kind of ****, but one of my rules, never pay someone for what you used to get paid to do. Anyway it was a really nice day, long, but good to be out and about, and Santa Rosa de Osos was a charming place.

Love - Micky

I gotta hang glide. It has been years since I have been up.

Is the equipment good in Colombia, Micky?? Are there many accidents?
