Default Hello from Nicaragua

Hi to all,
We are a couple in our last 50's/early 60's and we retired about a year ago in Nicaragua. We rent a house in Managua and we love it here. We have an active group of expat friends and we feel that Nicaragua is a good place for future expats to consider. This country is "under the radar" because of a lot of misconceptions in the US. We have found it to be very welcoming and safe with warm people, good food, great health care and a low cost of living. We have a much more affluent lifestyle here than we could afford in the US. Our attitiude is that "no place is forever", but for now Nicaragua suits us and we would recommend it to others.

Default rental listings?

I'm pleased to hear that you're having a good time in Nicaragua. My husband and I are considering a move there as well (although more likely to the coast). Do you know any good online listing sites we can use to find rental properties for long-term rentals? I'd so appreciate your help with this. I'm finding it rather difficult to find such sites myself.

Thanks!

Default Long term rentals

There is no multiple listing service here, so it's a little trickey to find properties for rent. Check out www.nicaragua-guide.com - the author has lived in Nicaragua for several years and is very well connected - you may want to send him an e-mail.

If you've been to Nica before you know that San Juan del Sur is on the coast. There you have the advantage of a town. There are also several developments on the coast that are in various stages of completion. Most of them will be an hour or more from amenities like grocery stores, restaurants, etc. I can send you some contacts to the specific developments if that's what you're looking for.

You may want to rent for a week or more in several places to see what suits you.
