Blue Hole. Great memories of Belize. For whatever reason, I never got certified to scuba, but I love to snorkel and have done a lot of that. Some of the best snorkeling I've ever done was in Belize off of Caye Caulker and Ambergris Caye. I took a one day trip to the Blue Hole with a diving group. Everyone were divers except for me and one other guy. It was sunny and calm and the snorkeling around the rim of the Blue Hole was awesome. Long, long boat ride out to the middle of nowhere and back, but it was well worth it. Hope to get back to Belize one of these days.

I went to Belize about 10 years ago for diving. The Blue Hole is awesome but you'll also want to spend more time on the outer reefs including Turniff and Lighthouse. I've been diving all over the Caribbean and the outer reefs of Belize are still my favorite.

Of all the places I've snorkeled (not yet been to Australia), I like Belize the best as well.

There are several advantages in visiting Belize: Everyone speaks English (the country used to be British Honduras), all the places take US currency, and there are many Americans already living there. Being a former British colony, the government is based on British rule. I felt safer in Belize than I did in Mexico. And the diving in the outer reefs is incredible. The best I've found anywhere in the Caribbean.
