I'm not trying to be an alarmist. Just wanted to pass along information - haven't been able to verify it yet in the press.

Spoke to my fiancee. She said that the FARC car-bombed the military university in north Bogota (in the general vacinity of LAI) today. She said that, fortunately, no one was killed.

It isn't anything like Iraq, in Iraq you have multiple bombings per day, in bogota it happens sometimes, in the month I was there, we didn't have anything happen, but things are picking up in the terrorism in bogota it seems.

Law, if you're going to compare apples to apples, don't compare an entire country to a single city like you did Iraq to Bogota.

You're studying to be a Dr. right?

Law, you kinda right/ but thousands of people die each year to this day by the farc, paramilitaries, eln, and there are bombings almost weekly sometimes even more.

Law when you were there, they might have been jamming up Cali, I get daily news and it is rare form to not see something weekly in Colombia terrorsit related!

Kidnapping still happen, the good news is all down in the past years. But what i said about bombing and shootings it is ever present!

Read their news. We never here about that ****, here.

Let's just compare bagdad to bogota and personal attacks aren't necessary tonk.

That was hardly a personal attack law. I'm glad to hear you've come full circle on the personal attack thing. Kudos!

Anyway, I'd prefer Bogota to Bagdad.

Best wishes with your lady...

lastlion, allow me to be the one to tell YOU different... the number of car bombings in Bogota are not even remotely close to the number in Bagdad.

Previous from the one last friday, the last incident was a few days prior to the president relection inaugurating act, back on July 31. I dont think there are any other car bomb incidents in 2006 in Bogota. How do you come to the conclusion of one car bomb a week when there have been two incidents in 2006?
The link you refer to is an article misquoting the same car bomb incident with two dead people when actually (thank God) there were no casualties.

Please do not contribute to the sensationalism the media seems to feed on.

Sorry to cause such a fuss. I just wanted relay the news. I've been to Bogota for several weeks between May and October...and never had an incident happen while I was there. Further, this is the one and only time my wife has told me anything about a car bombing since we met. So that, coupled with the fact that the location was a military college (next to a military facility - kinda ballsy) and near some of the agencies...prompted me to share the news.
