Just back from the weekend in the Big B. Sunday was a stunner. It was like visiting New England in October and wondering why everyone in the world didn't live there. It was sunny, mild with clear alpine air highlighting the surrounding mountain peaks. Just lovely. Monday was January. Cool, drizzly and dirty. Oh right, THAT is why I left.
The promised 9-10 hour bus ride took 12 from Cali. (and the same back!) No problems, or any real traffic, it just seemed to take forever. Next time I may spring for the extra pesos and take Bolivariano. The other companies stop at each raised hand to try and get more passengers which increases the time as the people argue with the driver about how much they have to pay for their chickens and goat. (I am not kidding about the chickens). We stopped in Ibague for lunch. Here is a hint, walk right outside the terminal and for 4000 pesos Dona Rosa will provide a spot on meal. (as opposed to the 7000 in the terminal restaurant).
I looked in all the coffee shops for DL but he must have been in Melgar.

You *****!

Just like a typical gringo, visits but never calls!

Seriously, I was in Bogota the whole weekend, all you had to do was PM me or write or call.

Hope you had a good time here.

We waved as we went by, didn't you see us? Actually there was very little social time. Mostly appointments. Next time. It was one of the nicest Sunday's I have ever spent there.

We have taken the bus from Ecuador all the way to the Caribbean with zero problems, as have many of the guys here. Most of the places we go are fine. You wouldn't want to head too far southeast or Popayan to Pasto at night has been iffy, but otherwise it all seems fine. Just bring a blanket because for some reason they keep the buses like freezers. I asked a driver once why it was so cold and he actually told me that the system had no adjustment. It was either on or off. A brand new Mercedes Interliner bus. I could SEE the digital display. (which was at 15 or something). These people won't tell you nothing.
