Hi guys.

I just received an email about not being a lurker, so this is my first post.
To make a long story short, Iīm 37 and I was adopted in LA. This year I found my birthparents. Birthmother lives in Chicago and my birthfather lives here in friggin` Bogota! So... I met my mother in Chicago last January and just came to Bogota about a month ago to meet my father. Cool dude. Married with a daughter (18) and son (24) whom are obviously my half siblings. I was only planning on staying here a week, but now... I love it too much to leave after only a week. The whole family has greeted me with open arms. I trade currencies online, so I donīt have a job with a time clock to worry about. So what the hell? I`ll stick around for maybe 6 months or so and get to know my new family, learn my Spanish and get to know my new... or should I say.. old homeland. As a matter of fact, in a couple hours Iīm taking a bus up to Codazzi (13 hours away!) to meet my grandparents on their farm. Iīll be there for a week and then Iīm back in Bogota. Iīve already landed a latina that Iīve been seeing just about everyday. Her name is Margarita and she tastes like a peach. She lived in New York for about 8 years, so she speaks great English. Sheīs actually from Medellin. Iīll add a couple picīs of her if I can figure out how to post pics. I donīt see anything here for posting pictures.... anyway, Iīm glad to be a part of this special group. Iīve just started reading all your posts, and itīs great stuff. Iīll post anything I feel is relevent and trust if I have any questions, theyīll be answered. Ciao! Joe

PS. The only way I can figure out how to post pics is thru a web address, so I am including a link to Yahoo photos. Thereīs a couple pics of Margarita and I, one of me with my cousins and another of Margarita and 5 of her friends. The photos were taken at some bar in Zona Rosa. Just remember to click the next icon to see all the pics.

Later!

Hi Jamatheny,

Welcome to the board and thanks for not continuing to be a "lurker", you have already given us some good information and I think this is going to be an interesting journey for you, one that I hope you can openly share with us.

I for one have no problem sharing my feelings and thoughts in my posts, even though some of it very personal, I would be very interested in reading anything you post on this opening subject and I hope you can just tell it like you feel it and not worry about "appearances".

Welcome, please continue.

GA

P.S. I like your avatar.

Hey Jamatheny- I was also adopted and met my birth mom back in 1998! So what are your thoughts on the whole nature vs nurture debate?

Great question. That was actually one of the questions I had as I searched for my birthparents. Since Iīve found my birthfather here in Colombia, everyone tells me I look and act (gestures) just like him. So the innate qualities are definitely there. On the other side, I have a brother five years younger than me back in Chicago and my other dad canīt tell us apart over the phone. We talk exactly alike and also share gestures. So I think that both nature and nuture are relevant in my case.

Hello, everyone:

I arrived in Bogota yesterday. I'm not exactly a newbie.

It was cold and rainy today, but I saw beautiful women on the streets today and drank cofee for 900 pesos!

This isn't a trip report, because I live in Bogota now! Tomorrow, i have three citas, and over then next 5 days about 7 or 8 more.

I want to thank you for all of your best wishes.

If any of you are thinking of coming to Bogota and you have questions, or need some help, please PM me or e-mail me at dennisianlevy@yahoo.com

Vaya con Dios caballeros!

Dennis
