Default Valentines Day In Bogota

Well Boy's, guess I am hooked. I just purchased tickets to head to Bogota on the 13th through the 18th. Thought I would suprise the novia on valentines day. Got a great price on Continental from Newark. A little over $500.

Can any of you vets out there advise on a nice and romantic restaurant, or some romantic place to go on valentines day.

Man, Colombia is becoming addicting to me now. Can't wait to get back there.

Valentines day here is in Sept. and it is movable. And I do not know zip about Bogata, but there are many here that can, and I am sure will, give you some great places. Have a great trip and give us a report when you return.

Love - Micky

I receommend Zona Rosa....wander around, get a drink, you have tons of restaurants to choose from, and the ambience is very cool and mellow there.

If you want impeccable service and great food the La Fragata in the "World Trade Center" is a good choice. An added nice feature at this restaurant is that the seating area slowly rotates 360 degrees giving a nice panoramic view of the city. (Only about 5 stories high, but still a great romantic view.) Garlic shrimp is delicious.

Another 5 star restaurant is the El Bunguer at Calle 101 18-18. No view like La Fragata, but very romantic, delicious food, great wine, and superb service. Same killer garlic shrimp and seafood.

Both these places are very nice and will impress any special lady.

I'll second that recomendation for La Fragata. Its just off La Septima and Calle 100. Any taxi driver will know. It won't break the bank as much as some of the other high-end restruants in town.

All taxi drivers know La Fragatta's, but make sure they go to the one at the World Trade Center because there's another one.

I agree it's reasonable priced IF you're careful about the bottle of wine you might choose. Reservations are recommended, though I've never gotten one. I have gotten a frown when I've told them I didn't have a reservation, though they were nearly empty. They do think very highly of themselves there

I hope you're doing this special date thing because it's Valentine's Day in the US. I think it's the only day of the year that's not an official holiday in Colombia but hey...just another reason to celebrate in Colombia! They don't need much of a reason to party

HT, is that the long and winding road? I approve of your new pix. Makes me feel like taking a drive! Bat.

If I were to choose which restaurant was better all things considered it would have to be El Bunguer. They don't have the view that the La Fragata has but everything we ate was absolutely scrumptious and the service was really impeccable. In fact, the waiter stood about ten feet away from us waiting for our beck and call. If he noticed our wine or water glass needing attention (or anything else) he was right on top of it. The ambiance is superb for a nice romantic conversation and if my memory is correct, they might have been slightly less expensive than the Fragata. You can't go wrong with either place.
