Unhappy

Bill....The capital of Colombia, Bogota, is in the state of Cundinamarca. The state of Amazonas is the southernmost state in all of Colombia, very distant from Bogota. Unlikely, but possibly there is a very small place called Bogota in the state of Amazonas...maybe.

One of the more well-known cities in the Amazonas is Leticia, a small town with a population of 23,000 on the Amazon River, and is in the southern most tip of the state. Bogota is no where near the Amazonas, you'd have to go at least 430 km south. Bill, it would be well worth your while to purchase a book titled "Colombia - A Travel Survival Kit" by
Lonely Planet. In this book is very useful information on the major cities and some smaller cities. Also telephone exchanges, numbers for various hotels, rates, airfare rates, climate data, etc...

Among the more popular cities most travel to on this forum: Cali is in the Valle Del Cauca, Medellin in Antioquia, Cartagena is in Bolivar, Bucaramanga is in Santander, Barranquilla is in Atlantico, Santa Marta is in Magdalena.
