Is Las Moras Barranquilla safe?

Someone asked me about the the area of Barrio Las Moras in Barranquilla Colombia. Here are my thoughts about the area and visiting a lady in this area.

First, the area is OK. As not a native I would not visit this area without a trusted local. Also, I would only visit during the day. This area is safe, but just like many areas in Barranquilla, people from other areas go to this area to steal.

My advice when visiting an area like Las Moras or an area similar is to:
• As much as possible meet your friends in safer areas of town and not in Las Moras.
• If you need to go to Las Moras, only go during the day with your trusted friend.
• When you go to Las Moras, leave your watch, good cell phone, wallet, jewelry, good shoes, and any valuables at the hotel.
