Default Options for Travel to Barr.\ Cart.

I have been checking out travel options to get to BAQ. This is what I found:

Looks like the only direct flight is from Miami is by Avianca. They have this price jacked up because it appears they have no competition. The prices I have been quoted is 650 - 900 range for a two hour flight. Ridiculous.

Copa offers service thru Panama at a slightly discounted price from Miami.

Thru Bogota Avaica offers many flights and a cheap price to BAQ. Most american carriers fly to Bog.

Any suggestions on discounted travel will be appreciated.

There is a security tax $180- $200
before 911 it was about $40.
There used to be a direct flight into the jungle, I paid in the $700 nieghborhood. To fly to the capitol and then catch a connection is a little more and they know.
I paid about $800 to get my mother-in-law up here in nov.
The only reason it was that cheap was I booked a return in one week.
Now since she is returning in july, I believe it will be cheaper just to buy a one-way fair.

latin i got my trip to baq as a non direct flight. the reason that it is jacked for now is for carnavales, its a 3 weeks away and its the basic supply and demand curve at work kid. try after carnavales to see if its cheaper. or do you need to go now asap

No I was just checking out prices- I do not have a specific date in mind now. I know the prices would be inflated during carnaval but I checked in March as well. Clay paid 800 for a two hour flight -this is crazy. Aviaca must have brought out Aces Airline. There is no competition on this route. That is why the prices are so high in my opinion.

Avianca did buy out Aces a few years back. What a shame as Aces was by far the best airline I've ever flown, Avianca the worst.

Aces was 1st class all the way from service, ultra fine stewardesses, roomy seats, new planes when I flew them, decent eats, and fair prices.

Can't beat that!

Having competition was a good thing...was

That was a Lima-Miami flight +or- 5 hrs
I remember paying $269 not long ago when there was a lot more competition.
The jungle flight was to Loreto, about 4 1/2 hrs.
The problem is when you have family over there and you are trying to purchase a flight for them. Noone except the airlines will sell you tickets and they ain't cheap.
Last year my x's sister snagged an avianca from Lima for $325. That's a steal these days.
If you are trying to get someone up here, it's better to let them shop it and then send them the money.

LA, I think you have had much more experience with moving the family around gracefuly.

According to my opinion Barranquilla is the best place to travel for tourism. The weather in Barranquilla is typically warm.It is a large, complex city. There are number of shopping centers.
