Cons:
First they pulled bait and switch on the the room I reserved.
Second the maid walked in when I was making out with a near-perfect 9.5. Third the water line broke between 10 pm and 10 am for my entire floor.
4th and 5th - the gym was closed both days I was there, even though the desk insisted it was open.
6th - It's in a poor area with crappy food
7th - Its restaurant is really expensive.
Lastly and worst of all this hotel is not safe! The emergency stair exits have trash and carpet blocking the stairway and at the bottom there is a locked gate. Good luck during a fire! I moved out after discovering this. The place is mismanaged.
Salbert,
You're having a rough time all around in the motherland!
Maybe I'm easier to please, but I found a lot of positives staying at the Torre, especially for 90K per night.
I have to admit,I only used the elevator and stairs sometimes to go up or down a few floors, not all the way to the bottom.
I also only ate the free buffet breakfast, nothing more at the restaurant.
I'll give you a hint on not being disturbed...Use the "do not disturb" sign that is on the inside door handle and put it "outside." This worked great for me, as I occasionally had late AM company when the maids made their rounds.
For food, internet cafes to call the states, etc, I just took a right turn out the door and walked across the main, one way street about 5 blocks to Ave Sexta. From that intersection, go left 2 blocks and you're at studio 54 and all kinds of restaurants, etc. Go right 5 blocks till you see the "Telecom", take an immediate left and you're at LE. I assume from there you know Ricardo's is only about a 3 minute walk up 2 blocks and turn right.
The ONLY negative for the Torre for me was the early AM traffic noise from that main street it's on.
On the plus side, there are always seminars and stuff going on there so you can hang out in the lobby and scope out plenty of freindly and fine trim...One day on the 41st floor they had a modeling competition going, so myself and another gringo went up to hang around and introduce ourselves and got a phone number of the main lady running the thing and had a good time joking with the contestants as they were having make up applied, etc.
So you see my friend, sometimes you have to look at the glass "half full."
Now, I'm interested in where you went to stay next that was better? I met one dude staying at the Windsor and said he was paying 70K per night, but I never made it over there to check it out.....
