Thanks for the link Eddie, I didn't know about the carnaval in Cartagena until a few days ago when I was talking with someone there.

I was in Cartagena from the 10th through the 18th. Been doin' it for about 5 years at this time. If you like water balloons, powder thrown in your face, pintados (pinturas?) coming up to you threatening to **** up your clothes, have at it. I go to check out the new chicas in town as well as the ones I know. El dia de Independicia de Cartagena is truly for the locals. Best things to do is have a few "afternoon delights" and hit the clubs late night, trust me.

Be careful with the water balloons, I have friend in Cartagena and she told me one those balloons burst close to her son and so did his ear drum.

That's my point. I was standing next to a guy that got hit right in the eye with one of those balloons. He never saw it coming. And I wear contact lenses. In all the barrios they call it "disorden" Everybody is throwing firecrackers (the size of cigars), water balloons with paint, and some other **** I can't think of. But I'll be back next year. It amazes me how I dodged all that stuff the first few years. Lately I've been threatening the pintados with a belt (huge buckle on the end).

I really love to travel there. It is one of my favorite city. Tourists from all over the world can be seen thronging the beaches here. I really enjoyed my last vacation there lot.
