Donde Estan?

Hey where is everybody? No recent activity here. Isn't Medellin (still) a favorite.....

Just that I'm just back from Cali / Bogota & looking to make Medellin my next target. Is it worth it?

Medellin is northwest of Bogota. It's climate is very nice BUT there is more violence there. In Pacino's thread,(last entry Aug.21) "Medellin: looking toward the future" he quotes some encouraging economic news. I countered about the 2 car bombs that were targeted toward innocent civilians. I spent 3 months in Colombia last year, and I met a bilingual colombian who is "connected" with FARC rebels and some high government officials. I am not easily-convinced, but he proved to me that he was the real thing. He told me approximately when violent acts would take place without getting extremely specific. He warned me not to go to Medellin because I'm north american and that the violence won't subside for another year. Medellin has always been more violent than Cali. I do want to check out Medellin someday, but I'm going to wait for a while. Paz. ................................Kev

Thanks for the tip. Wasn't planning to go until Feb. or March, but maybe I'll wait awhile longer, too.

A Cali friend of mine was telling me that Cali was a great playground. But that when it came time to make serious choices that I should check out Medellin.

I've seen and spoken with a couple of babes that were in Cali while I was at a party at Latin Best. He seemed right, so far....

Mustang, I think you are a wise man. Better safe than potetially kidnapped or blown up. I know my source is only one man, but he's been right on so far. Cali is kind of a playground although quite a few guys who were looking for wives have been married to calen~as and appear to be relatively happy. I know 2 americans who married Cali women and so far are glad they did a few years running. I had a borderline experience because I ignored some red flags and because of some bad luck. My experience isn't necesarily typical. Buena suerte. Paz........
