You can’t rely on any numbers from Colombia for anything. It’s not just the purposeful deception of some reports but poor administration and record keeping. However bad the reported situation is you can bet its worse than the numbers they give you.

I hired a $600.00 dollar a month Accountant here (which is on the very high side, because he was bi- lingual)
And I swear to my God above..(Ok you atheists don't get your panties all wet me using a saying)
He could not add up 50 + 60 and come up with the same answer 3 times in a row with a calculator.......
Finally caught him with his hands in the cookie jar and fired his sorry A$$, and he drug me to Labor Court.....Just because he could......
The management of almost every company I have spoken with down there when researching investments professionally has lied or withheld information blatantly and become indignant when you passed on investments, informed them you could not make an investment without the requested information and/or promulgated negative recommendations. There are certain cultural factors involved, but $$ is $$. The prevalance of corruption does influence things.
