Default Off to Medellin!

Well men off to Medellin next week for about a week. Got a grate rate on Spirit for $ 8.00 down and $149 coming up. Flying 1st class on the way back. That's no mistake it's 8 dollars US. Staying at the Holiday Inn a nice hotel for 84 a night studio with wooden floors and a queen bed w/ kitchen. If any one is in town would love to meet. Trip report to follow.

Lightbulb Re: Off to Medellin!

Are you planning on working in that Juan Valdez coffee shop Micky or are you going to hire some locals to run it for you?

If your not going to run it yourself, than make sure you screen your employees well. Some of them well rob you blind.

Also, I'm interested in one of those franchises myself; I think it would put Starbucks to shame. Is there a possibility I could buy one to run here in Oregon?

Smile Re: Off to Medellin!

Thanks for the link, Big E,
Ever since I first saw one of those, I thought it might be a good place to invest some money. I've never had a cup of coffee there or anything else, but I imagine the coffees good and the confections looked good too. I don't frequent Starbucks either. I'm too cheap too spend much on a cup of coffee.

If you could find some beautiful Colombianas for barristas, and a good location, I imagine you'd have a successful business plan. I guess I'll wait and see how it works out for Micky.

You got it all wrong man, Micky ainīt working anywhere but his apto. And I only go to Juan V. when I meet another gringo. That cafe is 2800 COP!, I get most my joe at home, when I am out and about it is the corner pandaria where the joe is 1000 COP. You rich gringos are all the same, trying to get me to spend my hard earned retirement on ME, instead of Dora and Mateo, shame on you.

El Exigente,

How did you get that $8 ticket? I saw them advertised on Spirit's website but never saw one available. If you are staying at the Holiday Inn Express in Medellin, I stayed there in late 2007 and it was very nice and had was fairly new. All the rooms were mini-suites. Are you going to any other cities besides Medellin? If I remember correctly you have been to Manizales numerous times. Any plans to hit coffee country on this trip?

I saw an 8cent fare that advertised each way, but when i priced it, it was 8 cent one way and $69 return. After all taxes and fees came to $174 round trip ft lauderdale to medellin. i have never flown spirit but understand it is just as good as southwest if not better. they will be getting my business soon if they can keep offering great deals like this.

spirit airlines may not be the most luxurious but its about time we get some good competition here.

I heard COPA airlines just put up a special out of miami direct to medellin as well.

The economy might be hurting but it appears more and more gringos are finding medellin.

Then again this is a high season due to semana santa and easter week.

cheers

I am well known for my lack of smarts (well really, lack of everything) but I think Santa Semana and Easter week are the same bird.
