Default Changes in NVC

Has anyone heard of any changes in policy with NVC? I received this letter from a client.

====================
The NVC changed their procedures for Bogotá. Evidently this procedural change was made sometime around the end of March. They are now requiring that ALL documents that were brought to the embassy interview in the past (such as police certificate, birth certificate, etc.) be sent to the NVC in New Hampshire in advance. The NVC will then review the documents for their completeness. Once complete, the NVC will schedule the interview appointment.

Hi Nelson:

I am a regular poster on visajourney.com and, in particular, keep up with the "Colombia Club" thread on the "Foreign Embassy...General DIscussion" forum. I have not seen anything about this. I will keep my eye out for anything...that site is usually pretty current. Does this change supposedly apply to K-1s? K-3s? IR-1/CR-1s?

I did a quick check of the K-1 and K-3 forums on VisaJourney...as well as the U.S. embassy - Bogota website, but have seen nothing. I'll check the CR-1 stuff.

I checked the IR-1/CR-1 section of the VisaJourney site. I noticed a post asking a similar question to your...perhaps it's from you client. Anyway, the response seems to indicate that there is no change in Bogota. Apparently, this rule only applies to beneficiaries from certain countries (such as Canada and some in Africa and the middle East), but not to Bogota.

Instructions for Immigrant Visa Applicants (applying in Albania, Canada, Lebanon, Philippines, Turkey, United Arab Emirates or on the continent of Africa): http://travel.state.gov/pdf/applying_in.pdf

Instructions for Immigrant Visa Applicants (NOT applying in Albania, Canada, Lebanon, Philippines, Turkey, United Arab Emirates or on the continent of Africa): http://travel.state.gov/pdf/not_applying_in.pdf

If one read the first link...without realizing it only applied to certain countries, I can surely see the reason for concern.

It looks like I posted a day too early. The word I am reading is that there was a change as of 4/1/07. Here's is the link to the current requirements on an embassy-by-embassy basis:

Click the link below, select BGT, click on Request Instructions and then open the PDF file on the bottom that says "Download all the immigrant visa instructions on Appointment NVC Processing"

http://travel.state.gov/visa/immigra...info_3176.html

PS - Glad my K-3 processing is over!
