co'sponsorship for visa, if your income isnt enough

I cannot use my income from my school for the income requirment, so ill have to use a co-sponsor, probably my father, and I was wondering if anyone on here ever used a co-sponsor. Has anyone heard any thing about it or does anyone know something about it?
