Default extend my tourist visa

Hi All _ Thanks in advance for any advice given!

I need to extend my tourist visa soon and was considering a quick trip to Iguacu Falls as a nice alternative to paying the Policia Federal $R70 (or whatever it is now) for a 3 month extension. However my concern is that if I want to extend my tourist visa again in just over three months will the Policia Federal refuse me because they see I have already extended it once by nipping in and out of the country? If thatīs true, is it better for me to do the Policia Federal way this time and keep the Iguacu Falls option open for next time?

I assume we're talking a tourist visa to Brazil?

The tourist visa allows you to stay "180 days per year". This is open to interpretation (calendar year, or any 365 day period?) Typically, you are stamped for 90 days and can renew for 90 days. That would put you at the maximum, depending on interpretation.

As far as the fee is concerned, you are talking $40. You would spend more than that on your proposed trip.
