Post Guys, need your help Visa K1

Guys, I am in the process of obtaining a K-1 visa for my girl. She is just waiting on a few documents (should be ready next week) and then we will apply for the visa. My question is: This is a very long process, how the heck do I not go crazy with all the waiting???? We are talking a lot on the phone, but it is so much different from being physically together. I am almost becoming a little depressed. Any guys with the visa experience who can give me a little advice??

I've been there It was some of the most frustrating times of my life and I don't miss the feeling. Even a good friend told me I wasn't acting myself...in a bad way. I was consumed with her. It was depressing. I know one thing...I never want to be that crazy for a woman again.

I hope she feels the same way.

I sold a perfectly good Vette to have the $ to travel and all the other things my time with her cost me. When the dust settled, I missed her sooo bad...the Vette that is.

Good luck and keep us informed.

Talk on the phone daily and travel there as often as you can. It still gives you very much needed opportunities to get to know her better in her family situation. If you get married, they will be yours too. Meanwhile also prepare things for her here. Get out and do things with friends. The time will pass... meanwhile make the most of it.

Thanks guys, especially Honky Tonk. I haven't been acting myself lately. But I feel like I'm finally coming out of this funk. Golf season will do that for you, lol. At least I know you guys have had the same feelings. I'm going to see her the end of June, but even that seems sooooooo long away. Hopefully, I can use you guys for some support. Thanks again guys.

Tonysop,

It IS tough hacking it out. Try to keep yourself busy. Like Tonk said, don't become obsessed with her. That's important. And for God's sake, don't sell your Vette .

My g/f (ex) and I started the K-1 process in December 2004. She received her appointment in Bogota in October 2005. That was unusually long but it happened in my case only b/c I moved from Dallas to Miami during that period. And it utterly confused the UG government and delayed us. (So don't move either .... ). Called and visited her when I could.

So you are in the document gathering stage and have not yet applied for the visa. Mentally prepare yourself and her for a 2-4 month wait. Stay in weekly contact with the USCIS via their website and your case recepit #.

Do you have an attorney helping you with this?

We're here for you, hermano ...

Hate to say this guys. But, the K-1, for now, has been called off. She was getting "cold feet", along with some other complications with her mom. She recently moved out of her mom's house and this has caused major stress with their and our relationship (hard for us to talk on her crappy cell). Right now, everything is called off. We will see in the future. But I am still going to Medellin in June. Whether I try to see her or not is still up in the air. Anyway, thanks for all the support. I still care for her a lot, but the timing might not be right. Take care guys.
