Default Immigration Stuff------fyi

Emilio T. Gonzalez, director of USCIS (immigration and citizenship services) told a congressional subcommittee yesterday, that because of an unprecedented surge in immigration applications since last summer , legal immigrants will have to wait much longer during the next two years to receive their visas.
Gonzalez said that until 2010 the agency would take an average of 18 months to process petitions from legal immigrants for citizenship.
Visas for permanent residents sponsored by realtives in the US would take a year or more , up from the current 6 month time frame.
USCIS says that they received over 3 million applications in the June/July time frame this past year, over twice as many as what normally is received.

Good grief! Why don't those guys hire more people, get the process more streamlined or something to speed up the already slow process! Waiting for your foreign legal wife to join you in the States, when the borders are wide open, is a travesty.
