I have a friend in Costa Rica who has an interview in mid-September to get a tourist visa. She has asked me what they want to hear.

I told her that they want a stable employment history which shows she has a good joba nd will likely has a reason to return to Costa Rica.

This person really can't mme a case to document this and I was wondering if there are any other rewasons she can offer which might be received favorably.

I don't know about CR, but in Col. she would be facing unbeatable odds of success, with no decent job, apartment, car, savings acct., etc. In other words, nothing to really need to come back to.

What has worked with my first wife and I was to send them a letter of invitation to vist, along with making application for (I think) it was a typical 134 affidavit of support. Look at visajourney.com for more possible credible info.

Usually, if someone is willing to sponsor them and writes the letter of invitation, they've got a shot at getting a tourist visa.

I will second Dr. Detriot's advice. In the past,I have followed the same route to help some buddies in Mexico get their tourist visa this way.

While they are professionals and have every intention of returning to Mexico, they had not had the time to accumulate the house, savings, time on job, etc. that the U.S. gov't requires.

It has even gotten harder in the last couple of years for people from Mexico.
