The fight against the bad IMBRA law is continuing, guys.

Here are two new Stop IMBRA websites which have come online...

http://imbra.org/

http://internationalmarriagebrokers.com/

Those who haven't yet read my Immigration Blog article on IMBRA, here it is again:

"The Backdoor Law That Sabotages International Romance"
http://usaimmigrationattorney.com/nucleus/index.php

Please take a moment to read my electronic petition to repeal IMBRA. If you agree, please take just a moment to sign (if you have not already done so.) (Please note that your name as you type it will be visible to the public, but your E-mail address will be masked.)

We need signatures to help convince Congress and others to change this law.

Many thanks!

http://new.petitiononline.com/imbra05/petition.html

PS: PLEASE PASS THIS PETITION TO ANYONE YOU KNOW WHO SUPPORTS OUR CAUSE AGAINST IMBRA!

I'm collecting the emails of everyone I know. I'm writing up an email that can be sent on via forward and I'm describing this for what it is. One step in the direction of making it illegal for american citizens to contact and talk to people in other countries. This is a violation of our human rights and it is a very slippery slope seeing as how our government wants to regulate and watch everything we do all day long. We are also told not to travel out of the country.
I think this law is dangerous to all americans and our rights to even have friendships outside of our country if this kind of thing contiues.

I think we must kill this law and make sure our government doesn't cross this boundry again.

For the first time in my life I am ashamed of what this "democracy" is becoming. Though all we have to do is reverse it and we'll be fine and dandy again.

Many thanks for your efforts!

Some people are saying that it is too late to do anything or change anything.

Some people are saying that a petition won't do anything, won't change a thing, it's useless.

Well, I don't agree.

First of all, I have been warning people about this law since Aug. 2003. I was laughed at. People told me that it would never pass the Congress. These people said "forget about it".

Now that the law has passed the Congress, these people are now saying, nothing we can do, too little too late, hey "forget about it".

Well, the "forget about it" people are dead wrong.

I say forget about the "forget about it" crowd.

A petition has some value, for example the following:
1. It gives people a chance to vent, which is constructive. People want to let off steam in front of a computer, this is one way to do it.
2. A petition helps to gather public support for a cause and helps us to measure that support.
3. A petition such as mine, which shows the person's name and any additional public comments may help gives us some new ideas about how to fight or argue against this law, which we might not have thought of before.
4. The database of petition signers might be used in a constructive way later, in some fashion which we can't even think of yet.

People who lay down and play dead on this law, just invite the feminist activists to go back to the drawing board and invent new laws (or offer amendments this law) which are even more restrictive and unconstitutional. At least, the feminists will know that there is a core group of opposition to this law and any new try at another bad law such as this will be met with firm perhaps impenetrable resistance.

I've concluded that this law will only result in more men looking for foreign women. Sounds stupid but follow my logic. I think that the agency is not the best way to meet women in Latin America for the average Joe. I think the match website whose primary purpose is to match people from anywhere to anywhere (e.i. the main purpose is not for US citizens and foreign citizens) are some of the best ways to find a woman. They also make it easy for the average Joe, and they do not have to comply with this law.

I doubt there are many agencies that only deal with American men and foreign women. I bet most agencies can show that the bulk of their business is with men from other countries matching to women from other countries. This may be a loophole that makes the law more worthless. Maybe.

I think the controversy will enlighten more men about their options out of the country. I have never met a man in person that knows that women in other countries want to date him, and that these women tend to be better quality. Some guys I know seem to be a little oppressed when it comes to dating, thus when they find out about foreign women they seem to explode out of a shell of depression and self-loathing and return to being men.

What we need to do is wake men up. Women have tried to increase their choices, but they want to restrict ours. It's nuts. The best way to fight this law and feminists is to wake up the ignorant. Lots of men think foreign women are for losers when we know who the real losers are.

I'm also going to go and say that 85% of American women are good women and would make pretty decent wives. However, if 15% of women are crazy lesbo-feminists or ex lesbo-feminists that no man wants to marry and if men here do not marry these women we have to wake up and smell the coffee. We have a marriage squeeze for good women. Now feminists want to clamp us down so they can make us miserable. Why are they lesbians? Because they think they are denying men the pleasure of having sex with their ugly, fat, manly bodies. So, if a man has the option to find a nice fit, feminine woman, then obviously they will become angry. Their pleasure comes from our oppression. I and most men on this board could find a woman here without any problem; however, I personally have found a better woman in Colombia. Doing what I can do to take the squeeze off of other men.

We need to recognize the problem, gentlemen and not just ignore it. We all know it. We are blessed to be American citizens, yet the women here are not part of that blessing. You take some and you give some. Knowledge is power and all we can do now is spread the word.

You hear that, men? We who are aware of this option have a moral duty to act upon it. Do it for the American Brotherhood!

As if we needed an excuse...

Question

Gary, First of all, I already signed the petition.

My question to you is how many signatures are needed on this petition for someone to even consider an amendment? What is the protocol and how long of a time frame can it take to amend it once this law is in effect after March 6?

I hate to sound redundant, but I still see this law being challenged in court.

Yeah how many signatures? I am feeling a little violated here. I saw this movie about 10 years ago do not remember its name. It was situated in the future (2050). I remeber this scene when this guy was getting very personal & initimate with this girl in a bar, they both wanted it, just a night of passion, and fun, but instead of getting out of that bar as fast as they could, their attorneys showed up with this sex contracts.. It was funny at the time, they had to negotiate what position, how long, was it a sleep over or a hit & run act.. Now I am wondering if that is where this is all headed.. Can't even google sexy single latinas without being spied on .. Is this the future?? One last thing how do you spell :spied or spyed???

Thumbs up

UPDATE 02/08/06:
1000+ signatures on the Repeal IMBRA petition

and counting...the fight goes on...

The purpose of the petition, if we get enough signatures, is to make an effort to get the attention of Congressmen and Senators to re-consider, offer a repeal or amendment, and hold a hearing. My senator here in Pennsylvania is Arlen Spector (R-PA), Chairman of Senate Judiciary Committee.

The petition also helps us to express our view, gather support (and a database) in support of the cause, and measure that support. My petition also allows comments by the signatories who have put forth some ideas and arguments against the law worth considering. The petition results may also be a factor to aid in any future possible legal challenge to the law.

PLEASE PASS THE PETITION ONTO OTHERS AND KEEP THE HEAT ON!

MANY THANKS TO ALL THE SIGNATORIES!

REPEAL IMBRA PETITION
http://new.petitiononline.com/imbra05/petition.html

PS: THERE IS NO "MAGIC" NUMBER OF SIGNATURES FOR THE PETITION TO GET A SENATOR OR CONGRESSMAN'S ATTENTION FOR A REPEAL OR AMENDMENT. THE MORE, THE BETTER. THERE IS NO MAXIMUM OR MINIMUM PERIOD OF TIME BEFORE A LAW CAN BE AMENDED OR REPEALED. IT CAN TAKE ONE DAY, OR MONTHS OR YEARS. THE MORE PETITION SIGNATURES WE GET AND THE SOONER, THE FASTER THINGS CAN GO.
SO KEEP PASSING THE PETITION ONTO YOUR FRIENDS TO SIGN.
THANKS!
