My brother has "friend" who is already here from Peru. I believe she has overstayed a work visa, but he says she had a "K1 visa" from marrying some guy who abused her and she left. Any ideas on if she is an legal immigrant or how she could be made legal if she isn't?

My brother is planning to move into my apartment building here in the states to manage it, and I don't want to have risk of it being siezed for something stupid like a well used pussy.

What should I do? I am about to just call ICE and let them figure it out. I don't even know if this old visa is even real, but she says she is getting a permanant resident card somehow now. I don't know if its real or she just bought it from the Mexican's she hangs out with. Any constructive advise is greatly appreciated.

Unless you plan on putting her on your payroll, don't worry about it. No one is going to seize your apartment building because your brother has a friend who may not have proper immigration status.

As for the girl from Peru, she probably doesn't have legal status and more than likely can't get it unless some kind of waiver is granted. She's one of the roughly 12,000,000 here who are not properly documented. She might be able to sort out her status, but it would probably be better to wait until the political climate on immigration reform is a little more rational.

Hi everyone!!!!!!

Now that my wife is here from Colombia legally, I am learning about many people who are here without proper documentation. These people say they are working on getting permanent resident cards. RIGHT!!!!!!! HOW?

Also, these people go back to Colombia often. HOW? The security at the airports is a joke!!!!!!!! The fake passports really work.

But........these people cannot leave their safe zone where they live because they cannot speak English, and they are afraid of getting caught.

Have a great day!!!!!!!!!

Congratulations once again on getting her home Tim!! It really is great news, and we hope you keep giving us input as time goes on. I know I've asked this before, but I'd like to hear how Mrs. L is adjusting to the NE weather, and the change in settings? I'll PM you when I get a second...unless you beat me to it.

Hi elcapitan!!!!!!

My wife really likes the weather so far. We are getting warm cloths and shoes. Last week we bought two winter coats at Salvation Army. Both are fur coats. My wife is soooooooo happy with her coats. I am looking forward to hearing how people react to her winter cloths. I live in a real earthy crunchy place.

LA, I wouldnt hold my breath on that one. Even if a Democrat were to reside in 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue in the next election, things are NOT going to change for the illegal immigrants. More and more of them will be found and deported back to their native countries. It happens every day here in Chi [under the radar of course].

If there is documentary evidence of the abuse, the woman may qualify for permanent residency under the Violence Against Women Act. She should seek out legal counsel to evaluate her case and get her pointed in teh right direction

Explain to me how that works.... I travel in and our of customs and immigration all the time. A fake passport, I believe... a fake VISA... NO WAY!

Hi Azjetpilot!!!!!!!

Thanks for your question. These people have not told me how they do it, but I know they are illegal, and they have US visas.

If someone has a visa, they are not illegal.

I can tell you what most obviously know. Phoenix is unundated with people who are here without documentation. This doesn't have anything to do with Republicans or Democrats. If someone doesn't call attention to themselves by breaking the law, they will not be detected and can live here indefinately.

This isn't a gigantic problem. In Phoenix, restaurants wouldn't run, homes wouldn't be built, hospitals wouldn't be cleaned and old people would not have attendannts in nursing homes.

If politicians considered this a big problem, they would stop it by fining employers $10,000 for each undocumented worker they hired. 10% of border patrol agents could be assigned to this duty and it would be effective at zero cost. This affects business and not poor people so don't expect it to be done.
