If that is not bad enough, the fee for Adjustment of Status will be over $900! I really hope the new fees do not price some sincere guys "out of the market."

It wont. Money is no option when someone finds his media naranja outside the US and wants to bring that person here.

The same can be said of people that own H2's, Escalades, Tahoes, Avalanches...do they limit their driving due to the increase of fuel?

nope.

Flawed comparison. If you own those kind of vehicles, then that means you have a decent income (or assets) to start with....so usually you can afford to pay for the gas (although the trade-in price of SUVs has reportedly plummeted due to the cost of gas and the desire of so many folks to trade "down" for a more fuel efficient card).

Further, I agree with you in one sense. If a guy has already found the love of his wife, he'll pay the fee. However, if he was merely thinking about looking for the love of his wife overseas, the cost factor just got much higher. Add together the costs of travel, wedding/ring, and visa-related items, you are talking about bigger bucks than ever before. I suspect it WILL be discouraging to some....who just don't have the money. The word I get is that we've already seen a decline in the number of gringos going to Bogota (at least for purposes of finding a nice girl)....I imagine it will get worse (not better) because of the increase in fees.

Depends. You could file the I-130 and I-129F for a K-1 visa now. You would pay the reduced fee for those filings, but you would still have to pay the inflated AOS cost....because you can't file AOS until after she is here and you've married her.

On the other hand, the only way you can file for a K-3 or an IR-1/CR-1 now is if you marry her before July 31 and you have the paperwork ready to go.

Thanks Grizz tha'st what I thought, but hey i am an optomist.. had to give it a shot and ask =)

No way i am getting hitched by July 31st, so i am going to have to deal with
the higher fees.. as Maxwell Smart would say "Missed it buy that much"

I plan to tie the knot a month or two after they raise the rate..
