famer / vets, old man needs help

I'm searching the perfect place to take my gal. My concerns are keep it cheap & safe & fun. So far, I narrowed it down to these destinations. Which do you guys advise?

> Acapulco, Mexico
> Cancun, Mexico
> San Andras Island
> Margarita Island
> Aruba
> Jamiaca

I have no experience with these areas. Go for Acapulco.

I have friends that told me Cosumel just south of Cancun is much nicer.

Aruba is great for scuba diving but is dry and humid.

It would be very simple for a trip to San Andres for her...no visa requirements, and I imagine less expensive.

Margarita Island is really beautiful.
I think I would pick some place like ciudad del carmen or Chetumal a really clean romantic city on the carribean sea with some really nice museums.
If you would like to visit a ruin, Palenque is absolutely breathtaking, perched up in high jungle in the sierra madres
I have a gringo friend, married to a peruvian, and they live on san andres(his work is there)and he absolutely loves the island
