Sailover wasn't there a big earthqueake in the 7 range in cali a few years back!

Personally I sleep right thru those things. I have gotten so used to them in the BAy Area!

LL - Living on top of the San Andreas fault, you should be able to sleep through them. I grew up in so. Cal and have always though of earthquakes as a good thing....they keep California from getting more crowded than it already is, and it amazes me how many east coasters won't live there becuase of threat.

John - your post brings back good memories - just downloaded some Steeling Dan

Ray - Thanks for this tread, definitely some food for though before renting that awesome view apartment on the top floor.

I agree whole heartedly! It is all relevant! Actually if you run the numbers it is safer her than the east coast! Lets see we have lost ab out 120 people in california since 1906 ! that is about 6 really big earthquaeks! over 3000 in 1906 and hundreds in the 1800's

if you look at the last 100 years, I bet there are more deaths in all those much smaller states on the east coast of people dying from cold weather, let alone hurricane, I am sure natural disaster kill more people on the east coast than the west!

NOW if only it would scare more gringos out of Medellin and COLOMBIA!!!!

Than I would really be happy!

If I remember correctly, (and believe me, there is NO guarantee), the last big one was in Armenia some years back. Did a great deal of damage and hit the poor the hardest, of course. It seems that when you have almost nothing, that is the first to go. I haven't heard about a Cali rumbler. (plenty of rumbas though)
