I caught a little 30 second TV news clip about 1/2 hour ago stating that the Colombian Gov't got wind of a major impending attack on Americans by leftist guerrillas in Bogota. They warned Americans to stay away from high class malls/areas and especially the area around the Pink Zone (Zona Rosa).

Just take it FWIW...

Thanks Tonk! I am curious which group they said specifically! Only because there are different rebels in different areas. I will be there shortly!!!!

Thanks for the the heads up. I just finished lunch and one of the family members was talking about ´activity´ in the outlying areas. I mentioned your heads up and she said ¨How did you already learn about possible activity in Bogota´? The lady has a close contact with those in the know. Guess one purpose of her visit was to cue in the clueless (me).

Security warning for US citizens in Bogota. Second time in an hour. the TV has issued a warning to US citizens in Bogota. FARC will attempt to target US citizens in Northern Bogota...especially the malls.

This is believed to be an attempt to make good on a promise issued by FARC four months ago in response to extradition requests by the US for its´ members.

The warning is to be considered valid for one month.

The malls... yeahhh.. sure..... now that words out that WON'T be happening... they will be targeting all the freak'in hotels and ofcourse Nelson's place !! Medellin here I come.. HEY GARY >> You looking for any room mates???

It was not a web link. It was on the TV with the Minister in charge of combating these activities.

Talked with SnoopyPuppy and he is unconcerned because he read the editioral page in El Tempo claiming this was a hoax. The news cast came on at 2:00 PM here....after the editorial.

I do not know any more than this. Except we will be having dinner with Snoop and his lady this evening.

I have no idea how much more coverage this warning will get, but I will update (if there is anything to update) until Fraday morning when we fly to Panama,
