Cali is becoming an insiders hub for kidnapping, as you’ll read from this article; men outside the guerrilla network are paid a bounty on people they return to the guerrillas, narcotrafficers …etc.. as they used this to fund their war chest.
http://famulus.msnbc.com/FamulusIntl...p?reg=AMERICAS

There was another article yesterday in USA today stating that in countries like Colombia, which you all know, has the highest kidnapping rate in the world, also has something called “Express Kidnapping”. This is something which a person is taken to an ATM to withdraw his complete account then the closest reative is called to bring in expensive quick access items such as jewelry etc. then the person is released in 24 hrs or less…that’s express kidnapping.

Then there is Corporate kidnapping which carries insurance to their business carriers for just this case. The rebels know that corporate insurance carries anywhere from $1 million to $2 million dollars for kidnapped victims of their businesses. As for the average person they usually go for the standard $100,000 which I guess they figure under dire circumstances most kidnapped persons family should be able to come up with…

It's desperate times in Colombia & kidnapping could be a volatile situation especially with the 75 gringos TLC is expecting for the Cali tour next month.

What are trying to do fjs, scare everybody from going to Colombia? You're not very good for the love business!
The article you cited talks about kidnapping of children, I doubt singles tour groups consist of kids. Besides, nothing new here, kidnapping has always happened in Colombia, and throughout the country, not just Cali.
Remember the kidnapping of people off a boat in the Magdalene river in Barranquilla?
Well, if you're thinking about a trip to Colombia, unpack your bags and start bar-hopping in the US for that Americana again.

It amazes me that everyone harasses FJS when he is one of the few people on this board that actually try to provide useful information - AND it's usually accurate information.

A good place to keep an eye on such developments is www.fullcoverage.yahoo.com/fc/World/Colombia

There are current news stories daily.

Biave, Thanks, but people have often complimented me on this BB and have e-mailed me personally also. BTW: No Star, I won’t ever start charge for my advice But I hope I helped you just the same.

Hey Mr. “take it easy” don’t UN-pack your bags just be careful, that’s all. After Mississippi Senator Trent Lott agrees of course to dole out 1.7 billion dollars to the Colombian Government to fight the rebels, the guerrilla’s may not want to mess with any Gringos at this time, but the common street thug might.

Here’s a tip if you already don’t use it; use a small a credit card type wallet with GNC Gold cards, Hertz Gold cards…etc.whatever.. with about 80 mil pesos folded in it, keep that with you to hand it over or throw if you’re ever approached and walk away(or run for your life). Keeping your real MasterCard or whatever in your other pocket. This should be enough to divert their attention away from you. Also as you know in Colombia to use a credit card you must always give your passport number, so just keep a copy with at all times not your actual passport. Also don’t carry your ATM debit card with you even though it’s convenient if it’s ever stolen they can use it just like a MasterCard withdrawing from your checking account, causing you a real headache.

Concerning the Barranquilla Boat kidnapping last year the river you mentioned is a port river outside the city of Barranquilla. FYI: The coastal city of Barranquilla has 3 military bases; the Navy, Airforce and something like the military police (this could be used for Interpole training for all I know) which surround Barranquilla up against the Caribbean cost.

Tranquilizer; Concerning you being accused of being AKA Bud of Latinlove.net, I know I met you in the flesh last year and that same day I called Bud at his place in the Florida keys. So how the …?

But for all of you non-believes take the time to look at both Bud who post as Latinlove.net and Tranquilizer’s Profile whom are both Registered, that means you can click anytime to look at their profile which they can ONLY Register for once unless of course they go through the trouble of paying Mr. Tim McCord twice & If any of you know Bud as I do, he would never post under a name like Tranquilizer, it’s just not his personality type .
