Below is a link to a very good article about Colombia. Just a reminder that Colombia isn't Disneyland.

Unhappy

I wouldn't be surprised if the FARC or ELN or the drug cartels get their hands on a Cray supercomputer.

Before I went to Colombia in May of 1997 I didn't know too much about Colombia. This article just confirms to me what I have thought for years and that is Washington needs to send 20 to 40,000 crack U.S. troops to stop all of this nonsense. However, as the article says, if the Cocaine industry is worth $80B USD a year then God only knows who has dirty hands from all of this? Rich bankers in Mexico, Cayman Islands, Washington and Wall Street? My point? Does Washington really want to stop the drug trade from Colombia and the other Andean nations? I have my doubts or I think you would have seen a U.S. military intervention already?

Cool

Did Air America want to stop the heroin trade in Laos? Did the guys funding the Contras in Nicaragua want to stop the exchange of cocaine for weapons?

The bottom line is MONEY and everyone is getting a kickback from the coca picker to the middleman to the big boys in DC.

The entire process is corrupt and the drug trade will never end. The money that is being made across the board is incredible.
