Looks like we had three car bombs yesterday and this morning. The bad boys are all riled up after el Presidente cancelled the peace talks. And all they had done is blow up a school!

Oh right. I miscounted by one. There were just TWO car bombs. Well, that's much better.

Not only were you off by one bomb, but the 2 car bombs did not occur on the same day as you stated, no less the same week, BUT you already knew that. They did not even take place in Cali.... so why even post them in the Cali forum?

Nothing like dramatic effect to get your message across, is there?

Any comparison to Iraq is PATHETICALLY inaccurate.

Ray, this is one thread that is worthy of DELETION.

Right you are Charlie. I will keep these insignificant events to myself from now on, will that be better?

Like the attack that killed at least 17 earlier in the week. But since it was far from Cali, we don't have to worry about it, right?

Dude.... I am a bigger smart ass than you will ever be and for the benefit of the few naive newbies that might actually believe the horse crap that you propagating:

- you should cease from spreading DISNINFORMANTION that is geared to furthering your agenda of scaring Gringos away from you home town of Cali.

- Check your facts first, make sure they are accurate, and then post it in the appropriate forum.

With regard to the afore mentioned event, your a bit too late, I POSTED INFO ABOUT THIS LAST WEEK, in the proper forum where it belonged.

My opinion totally. I think there are two types of gringos. The ones that are afraid of travelling and the ones that aren't. The ones that are afraid will use any excuse not to travel. The fearless gringos could really care less how many bombs explode or how many folks are murdered. They use caution while travelling but, are not easily frightened about what could happen. Life is full of risks and very short. So, get on the plane.

Okay, I give. This whole thing was in answer to another forum about being afraid to come down here. It is obvious (to me anyway) what Encino says is right on. Either this sort of news bothers you or it doesn't. I live here, so it doesn't bother me but no one should base a decision to come or not on what I have done. Tongue in cheek irony doesn't go far with this crowd, especially as badly as I tried to do it. I was addressing the other expat smart asses, not the newbies. Let's let it go.

I was going to pass on making a comment but I think one is appropriate regarding safety when traveling to any foreign country. I think that it is very wise to be aware of potential dangers and not tempt fate by acting as if there were no risks.

I think many Gringos that travel to Colombia don't realize what could happen to them, everything from petty theft to kidnapping to murder. It's smart to always take precautions and avoid unnecessary risks while in any foreign country and don't let your guard down. An extreme example is that poor guy who went to Brazil recently thinking he was going to have a nice time with his girlfriend then wound up dead at her hands or it could be just a stupid mistake of taking money out of an ATM while being watched then getting shot in the leg while being robbed like what happened to a Medellin expat recently.

Don't think that just multiple trips on your belt make you less susceptible at being the next victim. I agree, get on that plane but use your noggin while in country.
