Wow, this is quite a story of some macho touch guy from the Hells Angels .. was shown what being in Hell was really like...

"As he spoke to a journalist on Tuesday, Heggstad — wearing leather hiking boots, gray cargo pants and a long-sleeve T-shirt with the phrase ''Guilty'' on the front — trembled, broke down in tears and then hid his face in his hands."

Reminds me of a quote from American Criminals show; they said Al Capone couldn't have been Pablo Escobar's driver...that's bad!!!

if anyone saw the "Proof of Life" this story has "some" similarities..

This is bad when I am the only one replying to my own posts

But this CNN URL gives a photo and more detail on this Hells Angels ELN kidnapping:

Mock executions:

"Looking tired, sporting stubble and dressed in a T-shirt that read "Guilty," Heggstad recounted how rebels feigned mock executions with the hostages and played a small radio tuned to a rebel station spitting "anti-gringo" slogans."

You know I will back you up fjs . This fellow got what he wanted. Just proves you must be on guard and very alert in Colombia especially when traveling between major cities.

Boys,
Now , lets not get too carried away. Note,"FORMER" And the 650 whatever ? This person IS NOT a "Hells Angel". Dont get the wrong impression that they are a bunch of sissies that cry whenever confronted by danger. If you assume this, or make gossip of this you may find yourself someday in worse trouble than this guy.

Just some(real good) friendly advise.

Your right mikeb as quoted on CNN URL:

"Glenn Heggstad, a >former< Hell's Angel from Palm Springs, California, fights back tears when telling a reporter about his experience as a hostage of guerrillas in Colombia."

http:/www.strikingviking.net

Interesting enough his website chronicles his passage from central America through S. America.

Tonk & mikeb,

I guess it would be kinda like sacrilegious for a current Hells Angel or even a former Hells Angel to even consider a rice burner instead of a hog as his bike of choice especially on such a high profile event.

I am sure many of you will disagree with me but in my opinion this guys deserved to be kidnapped and is lucky as hell that he did not get executed. Anyone with half a brain knows that YOU DON'T TRAVEL OUT OF THE BIG CITIES WHILE IN COLOMBIA.

It amazes me to when I am in Cali to hear guys bragging about there day trips out of the city or bus trips from Cali to Med. or Bog.

Many times I have had women there invite me out to their families fincas up up to lake Calima. I ALWAYS decline and suggest you do the same.

Last year at this time, Nidia took us to a very nice hotel about 90 minutes out of Cali. Some areas of the countryside are safe and some aren't and your novia should know the difference. Nidia told me there were places where she would be safe but I wouldn't but this wasn't one of them.

Venturing outside the city alone is clearly asking for trouble. However there are safe places outside the cities too and if the person taking us knows the difference, it should be safe.
