This appears to be a kidnapping of circumstance, probably just wanted to rob them. Then they said, well we might as well kidnap them.

An expat gringo getting cased out, then kidnapped, now that would be some story.
Certainly would be a tough telephone call to make, by the gringo, to relatives in the US, asking them to pay up the ransom.

Release 2, abduct 6. Doesn't make a lick of sense. Fighting for social equality...right

No road will be built thru the Darian Gap in our lifetimes. Many reasons, the thick jungle/rivers only one thing. It really is beautiful down that way!

The Gap is about 50-60 miles wide, but it's much further from PC than that.

LL, I remember well the dude on the bike. He had a helper and it took them forever to get thru the Gap. Had to winch it up the hills many times. I think he even broke his arm doing it. I don't think a gringo could ever do what that Sweed from Norway did. What an adventure though!! Good book!

Exactly.... free 2 then kidnap 6 .. totally idiotic.
Unless the groups are so fragmented , with poor communications, that one
group has no clue what the others ones are doing. If they are released shortly then that what it probably was.

I am sure that LOTS of locals are kidnapped all the time ... we just here about the high profile foreigners.

Oviously they are fragmented , they didn't even know they had released the baby to foster care, but they still promised they would release him o CHAVEZ .. FCUCKIN FARC!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe they thought that leaving a baby at the orphanage half dead was with jungle disease was actually their first release of a hostage!

Hey I got to ask this!!!

What do you guys think about that chick who was going to be vice president, she was kipnapped, than was bangin a FARC guy and had a kid, now they released her, and not Ingrid!!!! I kind a feel she was not only disloyal to her country, but maybe she just had no choice! If you know what I mean!

The funny thing is here, our media would be all over that part of the story. I have been watching the colombian news this week and not one mention to her having sex and a baby with the terrorist farc guy! Only that is happened and nothing more!

TONK, we could do it man. Swedish shmeeeeeeedish! This irish boy would give it a go!

Yea I found that very strange the little that was said gave no impression that she was violated. It was certainly irresponsible for her to get pregnant if the sex was voluntary considering the rough circumstances she was in sounds like the child suffered for sometime with a broken arm. She and the French woman escaped got lost, blamed each other and broke their friendship… these two wanted to be part of the leadership of Colombia.

I have some friends in Cali. I young woman and some friends were stopped by FARC but were released becuase they were young, poor and from Cali. A few friends warned me not to go West or South out of Cali. They also warned me to watch for road closures, warnings, etc. I have travelled to several small and medium sized villages (with people who lived in the villages) with no trouble. I do listen and take advice from my friends. I would suggest this to anyone in Colombia or any other poor country.
