Crap! I just heard about yet another recent kidnapping. This time an American man. Information is very little and a Google search doesn't bring it up but here is the email that I received:

RE: American tourist kidnapped on the road to Bogota

AP Newswire Feb 25, 2008

According to Caracol Noticias, a leading Colombian TV station, yet another US citizen has been kidnapped in Colombia.

The following message in his own words was transmitted by the media on Sunday, Feb 24:

“I have been kidnapped by militants in Colombia. I doubt I will ever be able to return to the States.

Even if things get real nasty and I suffer inevitable torture, DO NOT pay any ransom or attempt a rescue operation.
America does not deal with terrorists. Tell my wife and kids I love them.”

This victim (whose name could not be published) is a man of exceptional courage. Caracol would not divulge how they were able to receive his confidential transmission.

Wow, keep me posted on this TINTO. I just did my search and no info!

He is right, he will probably never be released!

I'm interested in hearing "The rest of the story".

I feel for the guy and his family, but I'd also like to know how he got his announcement out; quite unusual in light of what he said about not paying a ransom. Maybe he just left it all behind so to speak.

The short story sure leaves a lot to wonder about. Let's hope for the best...

I couldn't find anything on that recent AP report and it seem to be more to that story. I did find something recent about the 3 U.S. defense contractors kidnapped in 2003.

I too , have had no luck finding anything about the story. I have contacted several people in Medellin, and no one has seen a TV or newspaper article on the "alledged" kidnapping.
With the content of what this guy supposedly said, am now becoming skeptical .
Hope it did not actually happen, but if it did I want to know "the rest of the story" as Honky Tonk and Paul Harvey say.

Anything new on the people kidnapped on the Pacific coast , right after the release of the first hostages? Or the guy, I think he was from Sweden, or some other Northern European country, that was abducted about 10-12 months ago?

False alarm gentlemen.

I contacted the person who sent out the email and he informed me that the original email had a photo of a guy surrounded by a number of beautiful Colombianas that "kidnapped" the person in question. Apparently the photo was dropped off when it got forwarded on thus causing the confusion. If I get a copy of the photo I might post it.

Like I said...

Stay tuned for a rehash of NBC's expose on Chevy Pickup's exploding gas tanks
