Default Medellin Atm Alert And Other Stuff

In speaking with my wife ,last night, she told me something rather interesting that I wanted to pass along to the guys living in or visiting Medellin (or any other country) during the month of December.

Many citizens will be taking money out of their accounts via ATM machines in order to purchase Christmas decorations and gifts. particularly in the time frame between Nov 31 through the days leading up to Christmas. Also , many tourist will be arriving as well.
She advised me that she has begun taking money out of the account that she needs for monthly expenses , a few days ago, in order not to do so during the time frame that I referenced above. She says that there is more street crime than before, and that the banditos are watching the ATM locations diligently now due to the increased holiday traffic. Supposedly there was a local business man killed during an ATM heist a couple of weeks ago, in the Poblado area of Medellin.

So be careful "out there" amigos.

Also on another subject. Andres Oppenheimer, the Latin American Editor for the Miami Herald, has written a book entitled " Saving the Americas". Originally written in Spanish, under the title, "Cuentos Chinos" the book has been translated into English and the North American edition is now in print. The book is a must read for anyone who is interested in Latin America, the politics , economics and the people who live there. The book shows how the social and economic stagnation is keeping the region from competing in the global marketplace.
For anyone considering relocating to Latin America this is a must read, in my opinion.
