Have a look at this.

Great idea.. .. the thing also works as a "satellite shoe fone" ! WOW.. ala GET SMART. I just wish they would build them into regular shoes as I don't see myslef wearing sneaker every day. I hope it works well in the Jungle in the middle of nowwhere. Much better than those GPS watches which will be be taken as a prize by whom ever is holding a gun to your head. At $325 I think its within reason.

Yea that's great but when I have my head up my butt, it is still going to make it difficulity for me to talk to someone on the phone....HELP!

Actually I do think that it isn't a bad idea given some of the areas a gringo ends up traveling in. However, if there are mountains or jungle in the area, IMHO communication would be spotty at best.

Its primarily a GPS tracking device.. not a Sat Fone.
Might come in handy if you wind up at a permaneant guest of FARC.
Atleast this way... they will know exactly what tree your tied to.

Talk about contingency planning! I guess if I was that worried about being kidnapped, I would never go to Colombia in the 1st place.
