This is an eye opening read I found on the net. Man, I feel for the people.

Good read, and probably one of the most factual accounts on what is really happening with US aid and what the rebels are really all about in COlombia!

Interesting piece, but a little too romantic and idealistic when it comes to the FARC. They used to be for land reform and other idealistic goals, but now they are no better than the the para's -- a bunch of thugs who prey on the campesinos. As for the military/para connection, the article is probably pretty accurate.

Goes to show that there isn't likely to be peace in Colombia for many years. If you plan on marrying a Colombiana and living there, this is what you're going to have to contend with and it isn't going away for a long, long time.
