Default Someone sure objected.

Last week in El Poblado, Medellin at the Santa Maria de los Angeles Catholic Church (next door to the BodyTech gym) a wedding was being held where the groom was shot to death.

I heard second hand that when the priest asked if anyone objected to the couple's union this guy got up and shot the groom dead and seriously injured another man at the ceremony. The mafia hit man escaped in the mayhem.

I did not find any information about this on line but it was in last Saturday's newspaper.

Talk about some jealous dude wanting to make a statement!

Since I mentioned BodyTech and murders, last year one of the trainers working at that gym got a little too friendly or said the wrong thing to one of the female clients and is now pushing up daisies for his flirtations. Some of these jealous novios or esposos don't mess around when it comes to retribution if they feel you have violated their "turf" and "honor".

If you do frequent a gym in Medellin (I'd think other Latin American gyms apply also especially the higher end ones) you will see many extremely beautiful women working out but be very careful about making moves on any of them otherwise the same fate might befall you. If you are there with the intent to do more than just exercising it would behoove you to become friends with one of the trainers first to find out which ladies are single and unattached to one of these latter day Latin cowboys. Even then, one of the trainers at BodyTech advises not to mess with any of their women clients. Maybe he was working at the same time as his co-worker and remembers too well what happened.

Wow .. thats a text book revenge story if I ever heard one.

Yes... I agree with your comments about the gals at the gym especially with respect to the big end expensive gyms like BodyTech. If you see a gal their on Tuesday at 2:30 pm you have to figure some dude is paying for her to be their. I saw a few hotties around this time.

The rules of life are different here. A Colombian man will call his wife demanding to know where she has been, from his mistress's BED! If a Colombian thinks you are dogging his girl, no matter if you are or not, you will be the subject of unwelcome attention. There are so many single girls here, just don't take the chance. If you see a hottt girl, often with fake boobs and the 'look', on the street, she is probably the property of someone you do NOT want to know.

Wow, what a story Tinto.. I guess just saying I object at the wedding was not enough!!! I think it is a good reminder that Colombia is not the same as the rest of the world.

I watched a documentary on LA MODELA, anyone heard of this place? It is the prison in Bogota.. In that prison one side is FARC the other is ELN, the middle is common criminals, talk about poor conditions.

The Farc and ELN ran the prison like no other. They literally each had hang guns and automatic weapons in that prison. They had gun battles and several unmates die each year in PRISON due to gun shot wounds. They had restaraunts and stores fo the rich commando leaders. It was like no prison I had ever seen before on TV>>

Just another reminder, don't get to comfotable in COLOMBIA!!! End up in prison and you are a north american your chances of survival are less than 10%.. Chew on that one...

Do you really think any American has been sentenced and has or is serving time in a COL prison?

Whoaaaa. thanks for that link! Midnight Express Colombia Style!
I wonder why Colombia is not a signatory to that prisoner exchange treaty.
.
It is true what someone said that it is LEGAL to use drugs in COL , its just that it is illegal to export them?

Charlie you don't seem like a naive guy.. com' on!!!!! In that documentary there were italians, germans a few from different countries... Of course there are men in prison. Why would we have a prisoner exchange with them if our guys are breaking their laws.. We aren't at war with them....

LL, I believe there have been times the US has been involved with prisoner exchanges. I don't recall the circumstances or if it went both ways.

Tinto, maybe someone should tell GA about this. Um never mind, he wouldn't listen...unless HIS god told him to do it thru secret signals. Kind of like Son of Sam if you get my drift

PS: If Gary ever gets married in Colombia, DON'T attend the wedding.

OK TONK, maybe I made it sound like a political prison, my mistake !!! I guess I should say that these were just prisoners although many were FARC or ELN, the gringo foreigners were in there for drug stuff and normal or abnormal crimes however you define it. One guy for money fruad! But most were in there for the same reasons we put men in Jail. My point in making that comment in this thread;

Was that these people will go much further than we will as a result of the lives and conditions they live in, that guy getting shot at a wedding in colombia doesn't really surprise me,(unfortunately>>) They literally have mass weapons in their prisons, here yo just get shanked by a tootbrush chisled to a point, there you get you head blown off in the prisons...

BY the way Tinto, that forum you dierected us to has the same layout as us at gringotalk... Interesting!!!
