Default Aires Airlines

I have some luck booking some flights at good prices with Aires Airlines out of Colombia. The web site is aires.aero (not a typo).

Unfortunately, I did not discover this airline before I booked my family on Spirit (which I don't like) to Cartagena. However, Aires flies from Ft. Lauderdale to Cartagena direct and it would have been at least $50 per person cheaper (more if you factor in paying for seats and bags on Spirit - there is no seat charge on Aires and the first bag is free).

We did, however, book Aires for next Christmas. We are flying from Ft. Lauderdale to Bogota on December 26 and returning on January 2 for $1075 for the three of us. That's a great deal for the holidays! Jet Blue doesn't even have their schedule up for December yet.

My mother-in-law is meeting us in Cartagena in July. We booked her flight from Bogota for $100! Wow. We've paid between $200 and $250 on Avianca/Sam before.

This airline seems to specialize on advanced purchases - booking 6-10 months before travel. They seem to have really good prices now....maybe trying to get the word out.

If you are thinking about going to Cartagena or Bogota from Ft. Lauderdale, check them out. At this point I don't know if they go directly from FLL to any other Colombian city, but you can always connect.

I'll let you know how we make out!

I have done 2 trips to baq from bogota 2 or 3 weeks in advance.. I love it on time flights , kind of the southwest model, cheap flights since most flights are less than an hour. WHo cares about the rest. Both flights were around $120 round trip
