Default Great Rates from LAX to Colombia

Now is a great time to get tickets through COPA from LAX to Colombia. I was checking rates to Medellin, Cali, Bogota, Barranquilla, and yes even Pereira (Coffee Country is beautiful.) All can be had for around $550 round trip including all taxes and surcharges for travel starting around Jan 10. Travel times are pretty good with flights leaving at 1:00 AM from LAX and arriving in Colombian city around 12:30 to 1:30 PM. Return flights leave around 4:00 PM and arrive at LAX at 11:30 PM, except for departures from Cali, which leave around 9:00 AM, have an eight hour layover in Panama City, and then arrive in LAX at 11:30 PM. All flights connect through Panama City. Hope to see some more trip reports from So Cal gringos in the near future.

LL,

I edited my post before I saw your comment, but yes they go through Panama City. They do not fly out of many US cities but are also in Houston, NY, Newark, DC, Miami, and Orlando. I have no idea if the rates out of those cities are as good, but it is probably worth checking if you live near any of those cities and are looking to travel to Colombia. Also, COPA flies to about 12 Colombian cities. In addition to the ones mentioned above they also fly to Bucaramanga (The Last Lion Special), Cartagena, Cucuta, Leticia (The Tonk Special), Monteria (The Sailover Special), San Andres, and Santa Marta. I think for some of those smaller cites you might have to connect through Bogota after Panama City.

Ricardo, If you are flying out of LAX, you might want to check avianca.. They were around $560 to almost any city in colombia (after the 15th of january), they have a flight that leaves LAX @ 9 at night and get you to bogota 6 a.m. than to any where else by 9 a.m. I have found that to be the best flight for me, if it is affordable. I can sleep about 4 of the 6 hour flight to bogota, than an hour to anywhere else. Than I have a full day in colombia, to adjust... The second day after a night sleep I am good as gold..

Here is a link to search for airfare, I'm told this is the same site travel agents use when searching for low fares, I've used it twice and saved about $$300.00 400.00 each when flying from Springfield MO to Bogota.

Just found a ticket yesterday for $700.00 plus tax for Christmas week, about a 1,100 - 1,400 ticket else where.
