Unhappy raise your hand

All right gringos, those of you who have serious trouble trying to log on to the spirit airline website raise your hand. I want to book a flight - orlando to bogota-- and their site never comes up for me and jams my machine. Just me?????

How are things going?? I hope it is going well and all things are looking up. Maybe ask Griz, but I think Spirit is still only flying to Cartagena, not sure about that one. Let us know how things are going with your better half, AND it is VERY good to hear from you!

Love - Micky

Smile Re: raise your hand

Hi, I am well and still living in the
Tampa area...thanks for asking. Trying to get to
Bogota to see my novia, I thought Spirit went there.
Griz do you know? I just can't log on to their site.

My novia would be here already but had a scare; they
found a cancerous polyp in her nose; had to operate twice
and 2 months of radiotherapy. It has been very rough for her
and things have not been too smooth for me either. It's been
a tough year for both of us......But,
I am looking at things gettting better very soon.

Right now, I'm planning on driving to Orlando and catching
Copa direct to Bogota. Always went AA thru Miami but
I cannot face that zoo in Miami airport anymore. Must
try something new this time.

If anyone has any more tips on copa pls share. bye...bat.

Take care everyone, happpy summer.

I haven't checked it in the last month....but last time I did check, Spirit was still not flying to Bogota. They had announced a direct flight from Ft. Lauderdale to Bogota....and had posted on the web site that it was going to start in late June....but (big surprise), it did not. I'm not sure if they've set a date for the flights to begin. I had not heard that they were going to fly from Orlando to Bogota direct....it's news to me. Actually, because of your post, I was going to check.

OK, I just checked the Spirit web site. They are now offering the flight from Ft. Lauderdale to Bogota....direct, beginning July 24. Flight from Ft. Lauderdale leaves at 10:30 a.m. Flight from Bogota to Ft. Lauderale leaves at 1:55 p.m. Pretty decent times.

Since Spirit also flies from Orlando, you can get to Bogota via Ft. Lauderdale. From Tampa, it probably makes since just to drive to Ft. Lauderdale. I imagine the direct flight is cheaper and it probably saves you a slight bit of time (considering driving + layover + flight time). Glad we now have another alternative to Avianca and American and Copa. It's getting better. Now if only damn Jet Blue could get its sh@t together!

This thread prompted me to catch up on my reading. Latest articles from the Orlando Sentinel indicate that Jet Blue is not sure when, if at all, it will start its direct flights from Orlando to Bogota. It has asked for a two year delay, which means they would not have to make a decision until 2010. I'm not going to get into this much more (already aired my opinion on a different thread about this), but here's the kicker....Avianca was looking at a direct Orlando/Bogota flight and only backed off because of Jet Blue's bid (again, per the Orlando Sentinel). This makes me even angrier. If Jet Blue doesn't want the route or can't hack it, let the government award it to someone else. It appears that Avianca might take it....and the paper indicates that Spirit is very interested (and is very much against the government granting these 2 year waivers). Please give us a direct flight to Bogota!!! Someone! Anyone!
